About the role

Mater Allied Health Services is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Psychosocial Team on a permanent full-time basis based at our South Brisbane campus.

As a senior clinician within the Occupational Therapy team, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across a diverse psychosocial caseload, supporting patients within cancer care, neurosciences, young adults and maternity services. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in providing clinical leadership, mentoring junior clinicians and Occupational Therapy Assistants, and contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Salary range: $66.58 - $71.64 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a complex and varied psychosocial caseload, applying high-level clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide expert clinical support and advice to multidisciplinary teams, patients, families, carers and external stakeholders.
  • Support timely and safe discharge planning for patients with complex care needs.
  • Mentor, supervise and support Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and students within the psychosocial specialty.
  • Assist with workload management, caseload prioritisation and day-to-day operational activities within the team.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative models of care, procedures and service improvements.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement, service evaluation and research activities that enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Foster a positive learning culture through clinical supervision, education and professional development activities.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Eligibility to obtain a Medicare Provider Number.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and experience within psychosocial and/or mental health Occupational Therapy practice.
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex clinical presentations and exercise sound professional judgement.
  • Experience mentoring, supervising and supporting clinicians, assistants and students.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to contribute to service development, operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, ongoing professional development and delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
