Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Administration Support Officer to join our Perioperative Department in a full-time, permanent position.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Nurse Unit Managers, departmental leaders and multidisciplinary teams within a fast-paced healthcare environment. Working at the heart of our Perioperative services, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the department while contributing to exceptional patient and staff experiences.
Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — having recently opened in 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a trusted administrative professional, you will provide high-level operational and business support to leaders and clinical teams across the Perioperative Department.
You will:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to Nurse Unit Managers and departmental leaders.
- Coordinate diaries, meetings, agendas, and follow-up actions.
- Support workforce administration, including rostering processes, onboarding and orientation activities.
- Assist with bookings, admissions, patient communications and referral management.
- Maintain accurate records, databases and reporting systems while ensuring data integrity.
- Monitor and manage administrative workflows, prioritising tasks to support operational efficiency.
- Coordinate purchasing, maintenance requests and departmental resources as required.
- Assist with audits, compliance activities and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the hospital to support service delivery and departmental objectives.
- Contribute to projects, process improvements and operational initiatives that enhance patient and staff outcomes.
About you
You are a proactive and adaptable administration professional who thrives in a busy healthcare environment. You bring exceptional organisational skills, a strong customer service focus and the ability to manage competing priorities with confidence.
To be successful, you will have:
- Previous medical administration experience within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Exposure to perioperative or surgical hospital-based services (highly regarded).
- Demonstrated experience providing senior administrative support to managers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and data quality.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and experience using healthcare information systems.
- The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- A commitment to delivering exceptional patient, staff and stakeholder experiences.
