Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medical Palliative Care Unit on a permanent full-time basis.

Salary range: $42.99 – $55.14 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a valued member of our Medical Palliative Care team, you will provide compassionate, patient-centred care that makes a meaningful difference to patients and their families during some of life's most challenging moments. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, you will:
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with professional standards, clinical guidelines and Mater policies.
- Partner with patients, families and support persons to provide holistic, person-centred care that respects individual needs, preferences and cultural considerations.
- Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement and evaluate care plans to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support positive patient experiences.
- Contribute to discharge planning and ensure patients and their families have access to appropriate education, resources and community support services.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Identify and respond appropriately to clinical issues, adverse events and patient concerns within scope of practice.
- Support and mentor nursing colleagues and students where appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, professional development and workplace initiatives that enhance patient care and service delivery.
- Promote a safe workplace culture focused on achieving zero harm for staff and patients.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with no restrictions on practice.
- Previous nursing experience in an acute medical, palliative care or related clinical environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication and care coordination skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients, families and colleagues.
- Current life support competencies relevant to your clinical practice area.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
Highly desirable:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Palliative Care, Medical Nursing or a related specialty area.
