About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is offering a career development opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Mater Clinical Education Team. This position is vital in supporting our clinical team, where you will be directly providing educational support to our Medical and Cardiac teams. This presents an exhilarating opportunity to join our dynamic team and become a catalyst for change, driving impactful continuous improvement and implementation across our clinical educational programs and services in Townsville.

The successful applicant will be offered 10-month maximum term contract covering maternity leave, working 24 hours per week. The contract will commence from 28th September 2026.

Salary range: $56.08 - $60.05 ( RN Level 2) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you'll be doing

This role will work as part of the Mater Clinical Education team to support education programs and services.

  • Support the professional development of the nursing team, be a mentoring for junior staff, new grads and our quickly growing workforce.
  • Ensure education delivery meets operational service delivery imperatives and timeframes to result in positive outcomes for staff and patients which is measured through 360-degree feedback.
  • Commitment to education and delivering safe, quality, evidence-based patient care.
  • In collaboration with the Education Co-Ordinator, Nurse Unit Managers, and the senior clinical staff, design, deliver and evaluate workplace / unit specific orientation and onboarding programs for all staff.
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate education activities and resources to maintain currency and alignment with education best practice, methodologies, and technology which meets various preferred learning styles, maximise individual and team capability, is resource efficient, and supports positive returns on investment.

About you

  • Current and unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Professional Registration Authority (AHPRA)
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience working as a Clinical Nurse or Registered Nurse
  • Demonstrated experienced in the skill sets of : IDC, NGT, CVAD, PIVC, MABs and Port-a-Cath or willingness to upskill prior to September
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical facilitation and education
  • High level communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Strong focus on professional self-development and that of others
  • Confidence in themselves and their decisions, strong leadership skills, and the ability to comfortably engage in difficult conversations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to best practice guidelines and adheres to Mater Policy and Procedures.
