About the role
Mater Private Hospital Mackay is seeking an experienced Biomedical Technician to join the team in a permanent full-time position.
In this role, you’ll provide specialist technical support across a broad range of biomedical equipment and technologies that directly support patient care. Working with a high level of autonomy, you’ll apply technical expertise, sound judgement and problem-solving capability to maintain, troubleshoot and improve critical healthcare equipment and systems.
Salary range: $41.06 – $60.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As part of the wider Biomedical team, you’ll contribute to service excellence, continuous improvement and reliable support across Mater’s healthcare environments.
- Performing maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of biomedical equipment ranging from routine to complex technical systems
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues across equipment including ventilators, patient monitoring systems, defibrillators and infusion devices
- Installing, configuring and supporting network-connected medical equipment
- Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and providing technical advice and support to stakeholders
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and the development of technical procedures and practices
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members through knowledge sharing and guidance
- Participating in ongoing technical training and professional development opportunities
- Participating in a 24/7 on-call roster and supporting service delivery across multiple locations when required
About you
You are a technically capable and solutions-focused professional who enjoys solving complex problems and working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Associate Diploma (pre-2000), Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent qualification)
- Restricted Certificate of Competency (Level 1, 3 and 5) issued by the Electrical Workers and Contractors Board (QLD)
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting biomedical equipment in a healthcare or technical environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to work autonomously
- Experience supporting networked devices and medical technologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable:
- Cisco Networking Academy (CCNA) certification or higher
- Radiation Use Licence issued by Queensland Health
