About the role
Mater Private Hospital Mackay is seeking compassionate and motivated Assistants in Nursing (AINs) to join the team in a casual basis. As an Assistant in Nursing, you will support clinical teams to deliver safe, high-quality and patient-centred care under the direction of Registered Nurses, Midwives and Enrolled Nurses. You’ll contribute to positive patient experiences by supporting care delivery, maintaining patient comfort and helping create a safe and welcoming healthcare environment.
Salary range: $34.20 - $37.44 per hour plus casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Supporting patient care activities within scope of practice and delegated responsibilities
Observing patients and promptly communicating changes in health or wellbeing to senior clinical staff
Undertaking delegated observations and assisting with routine patient care activities
Assisting patients with personal care, comfort, mobility and nutritional needs
Contributing to holistic patient care that respects individual values, preferences and cultural needs
Maintaining accurate documentation in line with Mater policies and procedures
Supporting a clean, safe and organised clinical environment
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver positive patient outcomes
Contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining a positive team culture
About you
You are caring, adaptable and enjoy working in a collaborative healthcare environment. You bring a patient-first mindset and take pride in supporting both patients and clinical teams.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Certificate III in Individual Support, Health Services Assistance or currently studying towards an equivalent or higher qualification
Previous experience as an Assistant in Nursing, Personal Care Attendant or similar role (highly regarded)
Nursing, Midwifery or Enrolled Nursing students in second or final year are encouraged to apply
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Digital literacy including confidence using Microsoft 365 applications
Commitment to patient-centred care, safety and continuous learning
