About the role

Mater’s Digital Technology and Information Division is looking for a Data Analyst / Power BI Developer to join our team! This is a 12-month fixed term, full-time position.

Reporting to the Manager of Data, Analytics and Interoperability, you’ll be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking analytics team. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is excited to bring new ideas, challenge the status quo, and make a real impact through data. 

You’ll help shape how we deliver insights across the Mater Group—working with modern tools, learning from experienced professionals, and having the opportunity to contribute your own perspective from day one.

Salary range: $54.57 -$59.38 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

  • Partner with business users and senior analysts to understand reporting needs 
  • Build engaging and user-friendly Power BI dashboards and reports 
  • Work with data from multiple sources to visualise insights 
  • Support the development and improvement of data models 
  • Help maintain and enhance existing analytics solutions 
  • Troubleshoot and support reports used across the organisation 
  • Contribute ideas to improve reporting, processes, and user experience 
  • Assist with testing and ensuring data quality and accuracy 
  • Learn and apply best practices in analytics development and data governance 

 

About you

We’re looking for someone who is curious, motivated, and ready to grow. You don’t need to know everything—we value your mindset and potential just as much as your technical skills. 

You’ll bring: 

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Data Analytics, IT, Business, or a related field 
  • Experience building reports in Power BI
  • Intermediate skills writing SQL. 
  • A passion for working with data and turning it into meaningful insights 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to ask questions and learn 
  • A proactive attitude—someone who enjoys suggesting improvements and trying new ideas 

Nice to have (but not essential) 

  • Exposure to Azure and or Databricks and other cloud-based data platforms 
  • Understanding of data modelling
  • Knowledge of data quality or governance principles 
  • Internship or project experience in analytics or reporting 
  • Interest in healthcare or working in a purpose-driven organisation
