Mater Research are looking for a Research Monitor to join the team! This permanent, full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

Salary range: $53.42 - $59.99 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The Research Monitor will provide independent oversight of Mater-sponsored research studies. This role is responsible for monitoring study conduct to ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and institutional requirements, while protecting participant safety and maintaining data integrity. The Research Monitor will work collaboratively with research teams to identify risks, support quality improvement, and help Mater meet its sponsor responsibilities across the lifecycle of research projects.

About you

  • A relevant degree or approved tertiary qualification in biological or health sciences or related disciplines and/or experience and training in clinical research or research ethics and governance processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate across multiple functional areas, building and maintaining high value relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information, with sound ethical judgement.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, including including the ability to manage complex workloads, prioritise competing demands, and meet strategic deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and present to senior stakeholders and external forums.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to develop strategic solutions in complex and evolving research environments.
  • Proficiency in advanced digital tools and systems relevant to research governance, data analysis, and project management.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously under broad direction, while also leading and contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Skilled in presenting complex data, concepts, and strategic insights to diverse audiences, including executive leadership and external collaborators.
  • High level interpersonal skills for engaging, negotiating, and liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated advanced organisational and planning skills, with the capacity to manage competing priorities and deliver high-impact outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • High level and demonstrated expertise in applying legislation, codes and guidelines relevant to human research ethics including the “Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research”, “National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research”, “Note for Guidance on Good Clinical Practice (CPMP/ICH/135/95) – Annotated with TGA Comments” and the “Code of Ethical Standards for Catholic Health and Aged Care Services in Australia”.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing research monitoring processes using platforms such as ERM (Ethics Review Manager) and SiteDocs, with the ability to optimise systems for strategic compliance and reporting.
