About the role
Mater’s Digital Technology and Information (DTI) department has an exciting opportunity for a SQL Server Specialist to join the team. The opportunity will be offered on a full-time maximum term basis for 12 months, based out of our Newstead Office.
The SQL Specialist is a key member of the team responsible for supporting and enhancing the SQL Server database and integration platforms that underpin critical business applications across Mater. Working closely with technical teams and business stakeholders, the role provides specialist expertise in SQL Server, data integration, troubleshooting and continuous improvement to ensure services remain secure, reliable and aligned with business requirements.
Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver professional, timely and effective database and integration support services, contributing to the ongoing availability, reliability and performance of technology solutions
Develop, maintain and enhance SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and ETL processes that support enterprise data integration, application interoperability and business reporting requirements
Contribute to the support, maintenance and enhancement of the organisation's SSIS-based integration platform through monitoring, troubleshooting, incident resolution, performance tuning and proactive maintenance activities
Work collaboratively with application, infrastructure and integration teams to implement, test and support data integration solutions, ensuring reliable and secure data exchange across organisational systems
Analyse, diagnose and resolve complex database, integration and system-related issues, applying strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
Translate and communicate technical concepts, solutions and risks to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and understandable manner
Apply technical expertise in SQL Server, data integration and related technologies to support delivery, maintenance and continuous improvement of critical technology services
Operate within the Information Technology service management framework (ITIL), managing incidents, service requests and problem resolution activities in accordance with agreed service levels
About you
A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent relevant experience
Demonstrated experience (5+ years preferred) in Microsoft SQL Server administration and technical support
Experience managing and maintaining enterprise SQL Server environments across multiple versions in physical and virtualised infrastructure
Proven experience with SQL Server technologies including SSIS, SSRS and SSAS, with strong SQL development and integration skills
Experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise database and integration solutions
Knowledge of SQL Server High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), backup, security, maintenance and performance optimisation practices
Experience supporting virtualised database environments, preferably VMware vSphere, and exposure to technologies such as Active Directory, DNS and Commvault
An understanding of ITIL principles and their application within operational support environments
Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
