About the role

Mater Hospital South Brisbane, Rehabilitation Unit is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Allied Health Assistant to join their team on a permanent part-time basis (22 hrs per week).

The role will require shifts across Thursday to Sunday weekly.

Salary range: $34.87 - $36.55 (OO3) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you will be doing

You will be joining a team of ninety remarkable people who service the physiotherapy/allied health needs of Mater Brisbane Hospitals (Mater Hospital Brisbane, Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Mater Mothers’ Private, Mater Private Hospital Rehabilitation and Mater Children’s Private Brisbane). We also provide outpatient services within the Allied Health Clinic (public outpatients) and Health & Wellness Clinic (private outpatients).

Duties will include:

  • Independently supervising treatment programs for patients, including individual treatments and classes under the direction of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
  • Assisting with treatment interventions during therapist-led sessions
  • Assisting with the setup, monitoring and care of clinical equipment.
  • Providing educational resources and assistive devices used for inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Basic clerical duties, including resource ordering, maintenance requests and telehealth set up.
  • Contributing to the provision of Allied Health Assistant student supervision
  • Weekday and weekend service provision

About you

To be eligible for the Allied Health Assistant role, you will have:

  • Attainment of a Certificate IV and/or Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively and effectively within the multi-professional team to provide quality services.
  • Attributes that align with our Department Values including being solutions focused, displaying resilience but flexibility, and demonstrating a positive attitude in all encounters.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the drive to provide the best support possible to the Physiotherapy team.

Desirable attributes include:

  • Previous experience in a hospital environment as an Allied Health/Physiotherapy Assistant, particularly in an acute and/or subacute setting.
