About the role

Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking a Registered Nurse to work within our Oncology Ward. Mater has finalised the strategic acquisition of Healthscope’s Gold Coast Private Hospital, this is a significant milestone in Mater’s commitment to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to Queensland communities.

In this role, you will be working in the Day Infusions Unit, helping with coordinating patient flow, assessments of patients, administering infusions, education, and discharge planning of patients within the unit.

A typical week in this role is patient centred, uses clinical problem solving, adopts effective communication and time management, manages up to date clinical notes and scheduling information and contributes to multidisciplinary teamwork.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus casual loading plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Whilst maintaining the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Problem solves any issues with patient flow and care of infusion Patients in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse
  • Liaise with the Multidisciplinary Team and ensure consistent patient outcomes between the various streams
  • Collaborates with other health professionals to provide safe patient care
  • Establishes priorities for resolution of identified health needs in consultation with the patient or group of patients
  • Acts as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to treatment, assisting/negotiating sensitively with patients where there may be barriers to understanding
  • Supports the evidence-based identification and prioritisation of improvements that ensure translation of research and evidence into practice in order to deliver contemporary cost effective, consistent, high-reliability clinical care and patient outcomes
  • Recognises and addresses inefficiencies in service provision, and continuously improves business processes

About you

  • Current registration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board to practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Minimum of two years full time equivalent clinical experience in area.
  • Exceptional time management
  • High level competence in using electronic information systems such as patient information systems, procedural booking system, Outlook, Microsoft Excel, iPM, Verdi
  • Ability to effectively communicate across written and verbal mediums
  • Intravenous and Peripheral Access Competency
