About the role

Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is a Nurse Assistant (Assistant in Nursing) to join our General Medical in a permanent, part-time (25 hours per week) role.

Mater has recently finalised the strategic acquisition of Healthscope's Gold Coast Private Hospital, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering exceptional and compassionate healthcare to Queensland communities.

Based at our Gold Coast Campus in Southport, you will be part of our state-of-the-art 339-bed facility, established in 2016. Our hospital delivers a comprehensive range of services across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology.

Salary range: $35.05 - $38.38 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

You are an experienced Nurse Assistant who thrives in an acute medical setting and brings a calm, compassionate approach to caring for patients with complex needs. You will demonstrate:

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (or working towards completion)
  • Proven experience working in an acute medical ward
  • Demonstrated experience supporting patients with delirium and dementia
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide emotional support to patients and families
  • A commitment to infection control, safety and quality standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • A patient-centred mindset aligned with Mater’s Mission and behavioural standards

About you

  • Considerable demonstrated experience in adult cardiology
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to delivering patient-centred care and achieving positive clinical outcomes.
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and commitment to role modelling Mater's values.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety and service delivery.
  • Availability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including mornings, afternoons and night shifts.
