About the role

Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking applications for a casual Theatre Orderly to join our team and support our wards. This casual role operates on a rotating 24/7 roster, including morning, afternoon and night shifts.

Based at our Gold Coast Campus, this role will be part of our state-of-the-art 339 bed facility located in Southport. This facility was established in 2016 and offers a wide range of specialities across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology.

Salary range: $35.74 - $37.46 per hour plus casual loading and weekend penalties plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare operating theatres and equipment for surgical procedures according to clinical requirements.
  • Assist with the safe manual handling and positioning of patients, equipment and supplies.
  • Clean and maintain operating theatres and equipment between procedures, following infection prevention and control standards.
  • Support surgical teams across adult, paediatric and obstetric operating theatres.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, medical staff and fellow theatre assistants to ensure smooth theatre operations.
  • Contribute to a safe workplace by adhering to Workplace Health and Safety policies and organisational procedures.
  • Participate in mandatory education, performance development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience working as a Theatre Orderly within a healthcare setting.
  • Certificate III in Health Care Support (Operating Theatre Practice), or equivalent, or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to prioritise competing tasks and remain organised in a dynamic clinical environment.
  • Sound understanding of infection prevention, workplace health and safety, and relevant legislation relating to the role.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient privacy, confidentiality and professional standards.
