Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking Food Services Assistants to work within our Hospitality team on a casual basis. Our Hospitality team prides themselves on offering a work/life balance to ensure strong job satisfaction. Based at our Gold Coast Campus, this role will be part of our state-of-the-art 339 bed facility located in Southport. This facility was established in 2016 and offers a wide range of specialities across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology.
Salary range: $32.02 - $34.52 per hour plus casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Food Services Assistant at Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast, you’ll help deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality meal services to our patients. You’ll work as part of a supportive kitchen team to prepare, deliver, and clean up meals — ensuring every patient receives compassionate, timely service that meets our food safety and quality standards.
In this role, you will:
- Assist with preparing and serving patient meals, including beverages, salads, and soft diets
- Deliver and collect meal trays, greeting patients courteously and following safety and infection control protocols
- Support all kitchen operations — plating, dishwashing, cleaning, and food prep
- Follow food safety and hygiene procedures and report risks or equipment issues promptly
- Maintain a clean, organised work area and contribute to a positive, team-focused environment
About you
You’re a reliable, team-oriented person who takes pride in supporting others and delivering great service. You enjoy working in a busy, hands-on environment and understand the importance of safe food handling and patient care. This role involves a significant amount of walking, and it is essential that you can safely perform all associated duties.
You will have:
- Completion of Food Safety & Hygiene Training (and annual update)
- Experience in food service or hospitality (healthcare experience highly regarded)
- Understanding of food handling and storage standards
- Strong communication skills and a positive, service-focused attitude
- The ability to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks safely
