About the role
Mater have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Category & Contracts Specialist to join our team for a permanent position in the team based at Mater’s Newstead campus. In this influential role, you’ll play a key part in driving the delivery of value for money through the design and implementation of best practice procurement methodologies.
Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As the Senior Category & Contracts Specialist, you will lead strategic category and contract management activities to deliver value, mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement across Mater. The role will evolve a strong customer-focused culture within Procurement and Supply Chain Operations that builds collaborative relationships and influences a positive business partnering approach. The successful candidate will:
- Develop and implement category and contract strategies to deliver value for money.
- Lead and support end-to-end procurement and tender activities, including high-value and complex sourcing.
- Identify opportunities to improve value from Mater’s procurement spend and deliver measurable benefits.
- Develop category plans, sourcing strategies and procurement initiatives.
- Support the negotiation and execution of commercial contracts.
- Manage supplier performance and resolve complex customer and supplier issues.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Maintain category, supplier, contract, spend and performance information to support effective decision-making.
- Identify market trends, innovation opportunities and industry developments to inform category strategies.
About you
You are a commercially astute, driven, and go-getter procurement professional who thrives in a complex environment and enjoys building trusted partnerships to deliver meaningful outcomes. A hands-on approach enables you to proactively identify opportunities and overcome challenges, consistently driving value and excellence.
- Extensive experience in procurement, category and contract management within a large, complex organisation
- Strong expertise in commercial negotiation, contract development and supplier management
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic procurement and category initiatives
- Demonstrated experience managing complex supplier and stakeholder issues and resolving performance concerns
- Strong analytical capability, with experience using e-procurement systems and generating meaningful insights from data
- A relevant procurement or business qualification or certification (desirable)
