About the role
Join Mater as a Category & Contract Specialist – Medical & Surgical and help drive value for money across Mater’s procurement activities.
Based in Newstead, you’ll work as part of our centre-led Category & Contract Management team, developing category strategies, leading sourcing activities and managing key supplier relationships across a diverse Medical & Surgical portfolio.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to work on complex and high-value procurement activities while partnering with stakeholders across a large and diverse healthcare organisation.
This is a full-time, 6 month, maximum-term contract opportunity with the potential to transition to a permanent position.
Salary range: $54.57- $59.38 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing
- Drive strategic sourcing initiatives, including panel establishment, aggregation, and standardisation.
- Analyse demand, utilisation, and market dynamics to identify savings, risk, and innovation opportunities.
- Partner with clinical stakeholders to align procurement decisions with patient outcomes and safety.
- Maintain category, supplier, contract, spend and performance information to support effective decision-making.
About you
You’re an experienced procurement professional with strong category and contract management skills and a commercial mindset.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience managing categories of spend within a large, complex organisation.
- Experience leading high-complexity and high-value end-to-end procurement activities.
- Strong experience across category management, sourcing strategies, tenders and contract management.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities and deliver value from procurement spend.
- Strong stakeholder, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Experience managing complex supplier and customer issues.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- A relevant procurement or business qualification or certification will be highly regarded.
