About the role

Mater Mother’s Hospital is a premier women’s health facility and Queensland’s largest maternity care provider, delivering more than 11,000 babies every year.  Mater serves as the referral centre for a large number of complex obstetric and MFM cases and is also the state’s largest provider of publically funded gynaecology services.   Mater is pleased to be able to offer a, highly sought-after, Senior Registrar role in High-Risk Obstetrics, commencing February 2023.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow their tertiary-level Obstetrics skills, including exposure to Maternal-Fetal medicine, and will also be involved in general and subspecialty gynaecology.


Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

What you’ll be doing

Mater Mother’s Hospital is seeking a talented and enthusiastic 5th or 6’th year trainee for the role of High-Risk Obstetrics.  This new position has been designed to meet the needs of an Advanced Trainee who has a special interest in developing their High-Risk obstetric skills.  The role includes a minimum of 20-weeks rotating through our world-renowned MFM department, high-risk caesarean section lists (including complex multidisciplinary cases such as placenta accrete spectrum), tertiary antenatal clinic, labour ward (where the successful candidate will be working concurrently with the MFM Fellow) and preconception clinic.  The High-Risk Obstetric Advanced Trainee will be actively involved in High-Risk Obstetric meetings, maternal and perinatal morbidity meetings and the Placenta Accreta MDT. There will also be an opportunity for interested registrars to participate in the Mater Flying O&G Service, comprising week-long gynaecology-focussed rotations to rural and regional Queensland.  Mater Mothers Hospitals have a dynamic education, audit and research program and the successful applicant will be expected to be actively involved in these activities.

About you

This Advanced Training Post would ideally suit a 5’th or 6’th year trainee intending to pursue a career in general obstetrics and gynaecology and would also provide an excellent foundation for trainees considering subspecialising in MFM.  The successful applicant may wish to undertake the Generalist Obstetrics, Advanced Obstetrics, Generalist Gynaecology and Essential Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Skills Advanced Training Modules.
