About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse to work in the position of Clinical Nurse, Mater Cancer Care Service, Outpatient Clinics at Mater Hospital South Brisbane in a permanent full-time position, 38 hours a week.

Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) aims to offer services to both public and private patients within a modern state-of-the-art facility which provides individually personalised, comprehensive and compassionate care. The MCCC includes specialist suites, consultation rooms, cancer care treatment pods, palliative care, support programs and a specialised pharmacy. 

Salary range: $52.63 - $56.38 (Registered Nurse Level 2) plus superannuation and salary packaging  

What you'll be doing

This role will see your responsibilities in assisting and supporting the Nurse Unit Manager and nursing team, in agreed leadership and clinical functions within a specified area, including operational management functions of human and material resources relevant to the speciality. As a Clinical Nurse you are also required to initiate problem solving skills, participate in education and staff development, contribute strongly to the quality/accreditation process and ultimately aim at improving patient care outcomes relevant to a busy Haematology/Oncology and Palliative Care outpatient service.  

About you

The successful candidate will be hard working, enthusiastic and able to show initiative. You will be approachable with a mature and confident attitude, have the ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team. 

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Minimum 3 years current RN experience in a Day Oncology setting
  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and share knowledge with less-experienced staff
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and negotiation skills 

 While not essential, applicants who currently have or are studying towards a tertiary qualification within this clinical specialty would be highly regarded.
