About the role
Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Floor Coordinator to join our team in a permanent, full-time role.
Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton's perioperative services comprise five operating complexes, seven recovery bays and a central sterilising Unit.
The Theatre Complex provides pre- and post-operative recovery room care and specialised endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. The surgical case mix includes orthopaedic, obstetric, gynaecologic, ENT, oral, urology, paediatric, general, vascular, spinal and ophthalmic surgery.\
Salary range: $54.21 - $58.08 per hour (Registered Nurse Level 2) plus superannuation and salary packaging
What you’ll be doing
As the Floor Coordinator you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective service is provided to patients and Visiting Medical Officers within Perioperative Services on a day-to-day basis. You will provide clinical expertise, direct support and coaching to staff within the department, with a clear focus on the patient experience and quality of services.
- Ensuring appropriate staff allocations and skill mix to reflect the changing workload and to meet patient needs.
- Coordinate all clinical activity to maximize efficiency and ensure staff meal breaks and reliefs are arranged in a timely manner.
- To act as a clinical expert within the area of work demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise.
- To liaise and co-operate with the wards, other departments, and personnel in the hospital.
- Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the theatre department in the daily running and organisation of theatre activity and provide support in all clinical areas as necessary.
- To maintain and raise the clinical standard of care through the process of audit, and as a result implement changes in best practice.
- Identify and communicate quality improvement ideas to senior staff to enhance patient care.
About you
To be successful in this role you will meet the following in the following:
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency with a current licence to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in a clinical area or specialty applicable to the unit.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Perioperative Nursing.
- Demonstrated advanced ability to communicate complex and challenging information constructively.
