About the role

Mercy Linen is currently seeking applications for a casual Laundry Assistant.

In this role, you will assist in providing a quality linen and healthcare cleaning service to customers, both internal and external, whilst maintaining a clean, safe and productive work environment.

Salary range: $29.59 - $32.09 (Operational Officer - Lvl 2) per hour + superannuation + casual loading and access to generous salary packaging of up to $15900 per annum.

What you’ll be doing

Specifically, you will:

  • Under the direction of the Manager/Production Supervisors maintain workflow to achieve efficient operational outcomes both in the dirty and clean linen processing areas
  • Separate and sort soiled and processed linen as required; e.g. sequence of linen maintenance; sorting/washing, drying, ironing, folding/stacking and linen pack out
  • Operate industrial machinery in accordance with manufacturer instructions and facility procedure to avoid malfunctions and injury
  • Receive and satisfy incoming orders
  • Perform necessary administrative functions to validate completion of order
  • Prepare transport containers for dispatch which includes the weighing, recording, and identifying of capsules
  • Undertake continuous assessment of the linen throughout production to ensure quality output
  • Clean and maintain work areas and associated plant and equipment as required
  • Accept, adhere and promote Workplace Health and Safety requirements, appropriate standards and risk management guidelines to ensure health and safety obligations are met to maintain a safe working environment

About you

  • To be successful in your application, you will ideally have:
  • Previous experience in a similar Laundry or Linen role. Previous Healthcare cleaning highly advantageous but not essential.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team or autonomously
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Moderate level of physical fitness to enable you to work on your feet all shift performing environmental cleaning duties including operating laundry machines.
  • Reliable and friendly, collaborative team player.
