Mater is looking for an Advisor - Communications and Engagement to join the team! This permanent, full-time role is based at Mater Newstead.

What you’ll be doing

You will support the design and implementation of internal and external communication strategies to drive positive stakeholder engagement and enhance the Mater’s brand and reputation. You will also:

  • Provide strategic and tactical communications advice, while supporting the delivery of key communication projects including briefing papers, publications, media and issues management, community information and the creation of content.
  • Manage responses to Mater related communications and media matters.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team and build strong, effectively relationships in all Mater Health locations.
  • Actively work with colleagues locally to identify, develop and support the genuine integration of health, education, research and philanthropy at Mater; in South Queensland and beyond.
  • Support the Director Engagement to achieve the organisation’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • Willingness to travel to Mater’s locations within Queensland to support local teams.

About you

You will have tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in marketing and communication. You will also meet the below criteria:

  • Five years’ minimum experience in a similar senior role with exposure to complex group environments.
  • Knowledge of contemporary communication principles and evolving trends.
  • Understanding, and experience in, using effective strategies to increase localised NPS and generate positive community perceptions of the Mater brand.
  • Experience working with professionals in a fast-paced service delivery environment.
  • Exceptional record of achievement in communications across different industries.
  • Highly developed writing, communication, organisation and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing collaboration and negotiation with staff, clients and external agencies at a variety of levels.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and against tight deadlines.
  • Skilled to plan and coordinate multiple projects within budget and allocated timeframes.
  • Passion and genuine interest in marketing and communications across Mater’s varied businesses.
  • Passion for keeping up to date and testing the latest marketing opportunities and trends.
  • Familiarity with the health, education, research and philanthropy sectors is desirable.
