About the role

Mater Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Support Officer to join the team at South Brisbane on a maximum term contract November 2024 – January 2025, working full time 38 hours per week.

The Business Support Officer (BSO) plays a key role in the delivery of exceptional service to Mater patients, relatives and staff. The core function of the role is to support the daily administrative operational requirements of the ward/unit with a specific focus on operational efficiency.

Salary range: $36.54 - $40.81 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

This role will be a relief role, working to support multiple departments assisting with busier periods as well as assisting with leave. The relief BSO role is critical in our wider team and training would be provided across these areas. As a relief BSO, you will be able to understand the unique requirements of each department and address their needs effectively in collaboration with the primary whilst also working to assist with process alignment and documentation. This role is great for someone who enjoys variety and learning new things and isn’t afraid to ask questions.

  • Ensure accurate data entry using appropriate electronic systems. 
  • Exercise judgement and initiative within define procedures, precedents, guidelines, and instructions. 
  • Support and assist other team members within the business as required. 
  • Diary management 
  • Assist with meetings / huddles / typing 
  • Maintain and support areas specific spreadsheets / databases / calendar 
  • Assist with preparation of correspondence and distribution 
  • Updating databases / systems for departmental use 

About you

  • High level of customer service, verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and effective administration support in a timely and organised manner 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients, and visitors 
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Enjoys variety and learning new things
  • Accurate data entry skills with a high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and departmental data bases and other software applications 
  • Qualifications, continuing education programs and experience may be used to demonstrate skill, knowledge and/or ability relevant to the position. 
  • Minimum of 2-year experience working within a private practice highly desirable
