About the role

The Mater Hospital Administration team has an opportunity available for an experienced Administration Officer to join their team working in admissions and patient contacting across Mater Hospital Brisbane Day Procedure Unit and Endoscopy. This position will be maximum term until 30th June 2025, part time 32 hours per week.

Salary range: $29.53 - $34.28 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

This position is a combination front and back of house Administration Officer, and your role will involve, but not be limited to:

  • Providing Exceptional Customer Service to patient and clients
  • Outbound calling to patients to update their demographics, confirm attendance, and address any queries.
  • Focus on improving patient engagement and implementing strategies to increase response rates for outbound communications.
  • Cross-training in front of house DPU or Endoscopy roles to provide variety and assist with shift coverage.
  • Processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges and the preparation of clinical forms
  • Providing administrative support to clinical staff
  • Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality, complying with administration, and financial policy and procedures. Maintaining accurate, current and accessible files, including maintenance of records of relevant meetings and discussions
  • Continually demonstrate highly developed written communication skills including ability to draft routine correspondence on behalf of the senior management
  • Provide administrative assistance to other senior staff and others as requested
  • Exercise judgement where necessary to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined

About you

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Highly experienced in providing medical administration support
  • Highly developed time management and organisational skills
  • Previous experience in outbound phone communications role highly desirable
  • Strong computer skills including competence in using Patient Administration systems (or the ability to quickly learn new systems)
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively within a busy, fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Ability to be available for all shifts across a 5 day working week between the hours of 6am to 7pm
