About the role

Mater is currently looking for a Coordinator– Communications and Engagement to join our Corporate Affairs and Growth (CAG) team, based at Mater Newstead.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, fast-paced and creative team of communications and media professionals dedicated to promoting the work of one Queensland’s largest healthcare, education and research providers.

This is a part-time position working 11.5 hours a week and will be a contract covering maternity leave for 12-months.

Salary range: $36.51 - $40.81 (MCA 3) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What does the role entail?

The successful applicate will assist with the development and implementation of communications activities for Mater Health, Mater Education, Mater Research and Mater Foundation, in line with the strategic business and marketing objectives of the organisation.

Duties:

  • Support internal and external communication strategies to enhance Mater's brand and reputation
  • Provide strategic and tactical communication advice and support key projects
  • Manage responses to Mater-related communications and media matters
  • Build strong relationships with the wider team and Mater Health locations
  • Support the integration of health, education, research, and philanthropy at Mater
  • Assist Communications and Engagement Manager in achieving strategic objectives
  • Manage website and social media platforms according to Mater's online strategy
  • Focus on supporting Mater Mothers team
  • Based in Brisbane with regular travel to regional hospitals in Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, and Bundaberg

About you

Applicants will have a tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations (or relevant experience in communications) and/or experience in strategic discipline.  

 You will also have:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior role in complex group environments
  • Desired experience in social media
  • Strong background in social media management
  • Knowledge of contemporary communication principles and trends
  • Effective strategies for local NPS and community perception
  • Experience in a fast-paced service delivery environment
  • Familiarity with health, education, research, and philanthropy sectors desirable
  • Highly developed writing, communication, organization, and planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration and negotiation
  • Strong understanding of brand development and management
  • Quick learner of new technology, processes, markets, and industries
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Foster a positive work culture within the team
  • Skilled in planning and coordinating multiple projects within budget and time constraints
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work after hours and be on call if needed
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing environments
  • Self-motivated with proven problem-solving ability
  • Passion and genuine interest in marketing and communications across diverse businesses
  • Passion for staying up to date with marketing opportunities and trends
  • Ability to work at a high level in a multi-disciplinary environment
