About the role
Mater Mothers’ Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the team as Baby Care Assistant in the private wards. Successful applicant will be appointed on a casual basis to assist with leave coverage. Actual working hours will be discussed with applicants at interview.
The Mater Mothers' Hospital manages over 10,000 births and 2,200 neonatal admissions each year, including at least 120 neonatal retrievals. The Hospital provides antenatal, perinatal and postnatal services and specialise in caring for severe complications in pregnancy, as well as newborn disorders. Additionally, an ambulatory service provides a number of midwifery antenatal outreach clinics and a Home Care Program.
Salary range: $31.27 - $33.77 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Baby Care Assistant you will be working closely with the Midwifery team in providing support for mothers and their new babies. The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Supporting a mother to set up for breastfeeding
- Assisting and providing guidance for parents on settling techniques
- Providing guidance and advice on baby handling and bathing
- General cleaning and stocking
About you
To be considered suitable for these positions you need to have completed a Certificate III in Children’s Services and/or a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, and have experience caring for babies within a work environment.
