About the role
Mater Mother’s Hospitals is offering a talented Obstetrician/Gynaecologist the opportunity to be part of our services as a Senior Medical Officer. This is a unique opportunity to deliver an exciting mix of private and public services in Australia’s largest maternity hospital. As a 12-month fixed term position, this role encompasses work within Mater's own private practice model and our bustling high-risk maternity service. Located at our South Brisbane campus, you will have a commitment of 14.5 hours per week.
Our world-class tertiary maternity facility is in Brisbane’s South Bank precinct and is the largest facility of its kind in the southern hemisphere. The Mater Mother’s Hospitals manage more than 10,000 births and neonatal admissions each year, including at least 100 neonatal retrievals and 150 back transfers. We provide antenatal, perinatal, and postnatal services, and specialise in caring for severe complications in pregnancy with a sub-specialty Maternal-Fetal-Medicine service. The Mater provides comprehensive general gynaecological services, with sub-specialty areas of practice including gynaecology, gynaecological oncology, endoscopic surgery, women’s imaging, and perinatal pathology. The unit has a dynamic education, audit and research program and the successful applicant will be expected to be actively involved in these activities.
Salary range: Commensurate with experience plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Importantly the successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with medical, midwifery, allied health, and non-clinician colleagues to help us deliver consistent, evidence-based, high-value healthcare.
- The Mater Specialist will be actively involved in teaching residents and registrars and measuring and improving healthcare service delivery through activities such as inter-disciplinary education, team-based and technical simulation, clinical audit, safety and quality activities and research.
About you
Registration as a medical practitioner without conditions, with the Medical Board of Queensland. In approved circumstances, eligibility for registration, with conditions, as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Queensland which must be produced at the commencement of employment.
