We are seeking a passionate Pharmacist Team Leader for our Clinical Services team across both public and private hospital inpatient wards working in a full-time, permanent position (or part-time 4 days per week may also be considered).
Salary range: starting from $131,824 annually plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you'll be doing
In this role, you will be responsible for operationally and professionally leading a team of pharmacists and technicians working in designated inpatient wards, with some time ‘hands-on’ contributing to patient care and allocated time for managerial responsibilities including:
- Rostering and coordinating workload allocation
- Coaching and mentoring to encourage accountability and support team members
- Providing regular feedback, assessment and development of staff performance to enable career progression and succession planning
- Collaboration with ward managers and other key stakeholders to improve patient care
- Providing responsive customer-focused service
- Leadership of and contribution to quality improvements
Clinical areas include general adult medical and surgical wards, geriatrics, cardiology and rehabilitation as well as the opportunity to work in specialty areas such as surgical admissions, paediatrics, adolescent health, neurosciences and adult critical care. Our service operates 365 days per year so the role will also include a share of some evening, public holiday and weekend shifts as well as an on-call service on a rostered basis.
You will become part of a supportive and collaborative leadership team using your high-level communication and organisational skills to
- inform and take direction from Pharmacy Management
- engage with key external stakeholders including other hospital staff and managers
- deliver a consistently high level of clinical pharmacy service to all areas of Mater Health
- ensure customers, patients, carers and other health professionals are provided with support and information relating to medication
- ensure the safe, effective and quality use of medicines to optimise patient outcomes.
You will have the opportunity to engage with all other Mater Pharmacy teams including Mater Redland and Mater Springfield, Inventory Management, Clinical Trials, Medicines Information, Community Services and the on-site Production Unit.

About you
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy and APHRA registration to practice as a Pharmacist (without restrictions)
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Pharmacist
- Prior demonstrated experience in ward-based clinical pharmacy
- The flexibility to work a share of all shifts including evenings, weekends, public holidays and on-call
- ANZCAP recognition at registrar or consultant level in a relevant specialty area will be highly regarded
- Previous experience in a leadership position will be highly regarded
- Previous exposure and experience in pharmacy automation will be highly regarded
You will also demonstrate a professional attitude, effective communication skills and a high level of attention to detail.
