About the role
Mater Health has a unique opportunity for a Manager to join the Nutrition and Dietetics team on a full-time 12 month fixed term basis.
Reporting to the Director of Nutrition and Foodservices, the Manager Nutrition and Dietetics (MND) is accountable for the leadership of Nutrition and Dietetics Services at Mater Health.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Health management team, as well as leaders within Mater Hospitals, the MND will lead the service development, education, research and overall financial and operational management of Nutrition and Dietetics services. They will be responsible for Nutrition and Dietetics strategic and operational initiatives and service standards to improve the coordination of care, enhance patient experience, and improve sustainability of services.
As a member of the Nutrition and Foodservices leadership team, the MND will provide authoritative counsel to the Director Nutrition and Foodservices on the strategic leadership and initiatives of Nutrition and Dietetics teams across hospitals. They will strive to work in partnership with Nutrition and Foodservices team members to drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement to maintain Mater’s delivery of quality, safe, patient-centred and efficient care.
Salary range: $81.47 - $84.22 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the development and knowledge translation of evidence based clinical practices, procedures, protocols and education materials to improve the delivery of dietetic services in relation to a broad range of specialty areas across multiple sites across the state.
- Provide clinical leadership in the professional development of clinicians and support staff, facilitating competency training to ensure effective service delivery and quality outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical and health leadership and expertise obtained through significant professional development activities and training and actively pursue development and learning opportunities including contribution to the training of Dietitian/Nutritionists and other health professionals.
- Set, implement and report on the strategic direction for a large and geographically dispersed team of professional and support staff including recruitment, performance appraisal and development.
- Lead a team of dietitians and support staff in developing and executing high level innovative quality improvement and research projects of significant scope and clinical importance to improve standards of clinical practice and service delivery in accordance with Mater’s Strategic plan and organisational goals.
- Provide authoritative counsel to senior leadership and other relevant stakeholders to contribute to workforce planning and resource management to meet service requirements and budgets.
- Foster a team environment, lead and direct a team of staff to provide safe and effective service delivery applying change management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills where necessary.
- Responsible for actively managing and reporting on Dietetics strategic and operational budget, resource assets and leave requirements/liabilities to deliver financial performance targets.
- Contribute to strategic decision-making and identify strategic and operational opportunities for improved financial outcomes for Dietetics and Foodservices.
- Ensure required audits are completed within timelines, risks assigned receive prompt and effective action and endorsed recommendations are implemented.
- Actively report on all monthly reporting measures and act promptly to deliver on required KPIs.
- Identify, report, respond to and rectify workplace health and safety (WHS) concerns from within own reporting structure.
- Effectively represent Nutrition and Foodservices on relevant committees and working groups across Mater, negotiate with and influence colleagues and peers to catalyse and embed required change.
- Effectively manage key relationships with peers and clients throughout Mater, across sites, service streams and functions.
- Represent Mater at Nutrition and Dietetics external professional networks and/or committees and contribute to the profession at a state-wide and national level
About you
To be successful in the role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Full Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status
