About you

Mater is currently looking for an experienced Allied Health Assistant to join our Mater at Home team located in the Greater Brisbane region for a full-time fixed-term 12-month contract.

As an Allied Health Assistant, you will deliver clinical and non-clinical services in clients’ homes or community centres across a variety of discipline areas, with the focus of this position involving clinical duties and supporting the multi-disciplinary team.  This is a wonderful opportunity to join a leader in healthcare and a proudly values led organisation.

You will be supplied with a company laptop, mobile phone and access to a fleet vehicle with an option of home garaging.

Salary range: $33.96 - $35.41 (Operational Officer Level 3) per hour plus superannuation with the opportunity to increase your take-home pay with our competitive salary packaging options. Please note this represents pay parity with Queensland Health.

What you’ll be doing

The purpose of the role is to deliver competent and professional assistance to clients, families, clinicians and care providers. Key tasks will include:

  • Assisting with completing an individual program with clients in their home.
  • Assisting with group classes at a community-based centre.
  • Liaising with the treating therapist to ensure an understanding of program requirements and handing over the outcomes of visits.
  • Review of equipment prescribed to the client, ensuring it is working correctly and the client can use it safely.
  • Assistance in delivery of services across the multidisciplinary allied health team. This will mainly focus on Physiotherapy however may include Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Speech Pathology and Social Work.

About you

Essential

  • A certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
  • Possession of a valid open driver’s licence
  • Current, or ability to obtain, NDIS Worker Screening Check (yellow card)

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience working within a community, aged care and/or disability environment for one year.
  • Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clients, carers and service providers.
  • Ability to actively participate in a team.
  • Highly competent organisation and time management skills, and ability to respond to competing demands.
