About the role
Mater Group are seeking a Projects Procurement Specialist to join our team on a full time, 12-month contract with potential for extension based at Newstead.
Reporting to the Strategic Program/Commercial Lead, you will foster a customer-focused culture in Procurement and Supply Chain Operations, building collaborative relationships and promoting a positive business partnering approach. Be part of our Centre-led Project Team, contributing to driving relationships with Mater departments, developing procurement strategy and standards, identifying performance improvement opportunities, and addressing value chain challenges. Join our journey to achieve improvements in Procurement and Supply, including implementing a fit-for-purpose operating model.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Support development and execution of project-focused sourcing strategies to maximise value for money and achieve category objectives
- Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including planning, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and selection for large-scale projects
- Project manage implementation of procurement initiatives, reviewing scope, overseeing RFP documentation, and aligning with stakeholder requirements
- Maintain procurement knowledge to ensure compliance with organisational requirements, best practices, and industry standards
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a conduit during procurement activities
- Provide expert procurement advice, conducting market analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and benchmarking
- Develop and implement contracts with performance incentives and enable effective contract management
- Manage transition of procurement activities to BAU, including contract management plans and handover meetings
- Conduct research on current and emerging markets/suppliers, refining specifications to meet business requirements
- Apply appropriate tools and techniques in different procurement situations
About you
- Relevant procurement or business qualification/certification, desired
- Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale strategic sourcing processes, developing sourcing strategies, tenders, business cases, and category plans in a complex organisation
- Proven track record in implementing contract and supplier management strategies, including strong negotiation skills and successful management of complex tender evaluation processes
- Demonstrated experience in identifying opportunities to improve value for money and delivering initiatives to secure that value
- Knowledge and experience of e-procurement systems, including generating reports and analysing data
- Ability to work effectively within a team or independently, depending on project requirements
