Mater Private Hospital Townsville along with Townsville University Hospital are seeking enthusiastic qualified General Paediatricians to join our teams.

This is a unique opportunity for both new and experienced general paediatricians that includes supported independent private practice with Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital Townsville and a part time public appointment at the Townsville University Hospital. 

Mater is an iconic health service, the largest of its kind in Australia, with almost 12,000 births statewide and capturing over 50% of Queensland’s private maternity market share.  Mater Private Hospital Townsville has been an icon of compassionate care for 80 years, providing extensive clinical services to meet the needs of our local community.

Townsville University Hospital is the only tertiary referral centre in North Queensland, treating patients from Mackay to as far north as Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait Islands, and west to Mount Isa and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Townsville University Hospital has a comprehensive maternal and paediatric service tailored to the care, and treatment of children in the North Queensland Community.

There is tremendous demand for general paediatricians in Townsville, and together Mater and Townsville University Hospital are here to support you to be successful. 

What you will be doing:

This role will be primarily based in private practice with a part time appointment at the Townsville University Hospital. 

Specifically, the role will be required to provide in-patient and on call service to our Mater Mothers Private Hospital. We will support you in your transition to private practice.  

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Registration as a Medical Practitioner without conditions, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Specialist registration: Paediatrics and Child Health – General Paediatrics
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent
• Completed Advanced Training in General Paediatrics with the RACP or equivalent
