About the role

Mater Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Control Officer to join the team on a permanent, full-time basis

The purpose of the Inventory Control Officer role is to provide oversight of inventory and imprest management within the delivery of supply chain operations to the procedural areas within Mater Rockhampton. Supply Chain Operations works with a one team approach to delivering services, and all team members are expected to participate in activities which support improvement and change in the delivery of regional supply chain services including purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, imprest management and customer service.

Salary range: $72,404 - $80,924 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Ensure accurate and high-quality inventory control for theatre operations in Mater, working as part of a collaborative supply chain operations team
  • Process documentation in D365 and other systems to ensure inventory consumption and cost recovery is processed accurately and expeditiously
  • Purchase inventory and non-inventory items as required and by exception in support of Mater Central Purchasing team
  • Ensure imprest management is a principle focus for stock control and replenishment of goods, adhering to system requirements and reporting schedules
  • Conduct regular stocktaking of identified Mater owned and vendor inventory, and resolve any discrepancies as required
  • Analyse and make recommendations as required on updates to inventory holdings to prevent overstocking and subsequent financial adjustments through stock write-offs
  • Participate in process improvement activities for imprest management within Mater
  • Identify issues and contribute input to discussion for improving imprest management and deliver better quality outcomes
  • Follow up supplier issues and requests related to inventory control, ensuring that these issues are communicated as part of the team workflow and supervision
  • Ensure issues with supplier performance are raised with your Manager for follow-up and discussion
  • Support and build seamless customer service provision within Supply Chain Operations and ensure timely and accurate information from clinical stakeholders to the team
  • Participate in collaborative issues resolution and support a best practice approach to customer service excellence
  • Contribute to team development activities and support the transition towards a centralised regional supply chain operations delivery model

About you

To be successful in your application, you will have:

  • A Diploma in Purchasing or Inventory Management, or equivalent is desirable, but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience of working within inventory control, preferably in a large, complex organisation
  • Prior experience working in inventory control in a healthcare setting is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of an inventory management platform/s is essential
  • Demonstrated experience in imprest management processes is desirable
  • Demonstrated IT skills including the MS Office suite
  • Sound knowledge of the end-to-end procurement and purchasing process is desirable
  • Must demonstrate initiative and be proactive in monitoring, distributing and communicating issues related to inventory and stock control
  • Able to be organised in a dynamic operating environment, with the ability work as part of a team and independently as required
  • Must have excellent customer service skills, including the ability to communicate outcomes to deliver client expectations
  • Support the Supply Chain Operations team to deliver a quality service to Mater Health stakeholders
