About the role
Mater Mothers Hospital are currently seeking an experienced Clinical Midwife for the CHAMP service. This is a permanent, part time role at 24 hours per week based at our South Brisbane campus.
Salary range: $54.54 - $58.30 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The CHAMP Clinical Midwife will play a vital role in the specialised antenatal and postnatal care of pregnant women with substance use issues at Mater Mothers' Hospital in South Brisbane. This position will involve conducting midwifery appointments, postnatal homecare visits, providing comprehensive case management, and actively engaging in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, working closely alongside an existing CHAMP midwife to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
The role includes a strong focus on collaboration with critical peer and stakeholder groups to ensure holistic, coordinated care for women with complex needs, including mental health and psychosocial support. This role is essential for maintaining the high standard of care provided by the CHAMP Clinic and advocating for the unique needs of pregnant women within this vulnerable group.
This position sits within Ambulatory Services, where you will also collaborate with the broader team to provide comprehensive pregnancy care to all women, ensuring seamless integration of services across the healthcare continuum.
About you
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife (no restrictions)
- Considerable previous midwifery experience
- An active interest in substance use both illicit and prescribed and the impact on pregnancy and parenting
- Ability to identify risk potential and escalate accordingly
- Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
- Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team
- An ability to work autonomously and function as a member of a diverse health service delivery team
- Commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and midwifery practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others.
- Willingness to commit to and role model the Mater values
- Current drivers licence
