About the role

Mater Pathology is currently seeking applications for casual Courier team members, where you will be based at our South Brisbane Campus.  This role may also be required to participate in rotational rosters over a 24hr period/7 days a week.

 As a Mater Pathology Courier you will be providing a high level of customer service.  The management of specimens in the pre-analytical stage ensures the delivery of quality samples for testing that leads to timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Salary range: $31.24 - $33.68 per hour (Operational Officer Level 2) plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!

What you'll be doing

  • Receive assignments via navigational systems or telephone
  • Collection of blood samples from Mater Pathology Collection Centre, Doctor Surgeries and Nursing Homes.
  • Registration of samples using pre-analytical tracking system
  • You will maintain equipment, consumables and work areas in a clean, safe and well-resourced state.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Deliver customer experience of a high standard by ensuring a professional appearance and positive personal interactions.
  • Promoting the philosophy of health care and values of Mater Health Service
  • Providing excellent patient care and a strong commitment to customer service
  • Maintaining quality of service as per ISO 17025 accreditation and AS/NZS ISO/9001 2000 standards

About you

  • A valid Open Queensland Driving Licence with a clean driving history
  • A good understanding of traffic patterns
  • Availability for AM, PM and week-end shifts
  • Be punctual, reliable and trustworthy
  • Have strong communication skills, including good customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Good understanding of patient confidentiality
  • Ability to work as part a of multidisciplinary team environment
