About the role

Mater Rockhampton is seeking an Administration Manager to join the team on a full-time, 6-month maximum term contract, running until November 2025 (with the possibility of extension/permanent position). This role will be responsible for leading administration services across Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton.

Salary range: $61.20 - $65.56 per hour (MCAS 6)  plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The Administration Manager will manage and coordinate the Administration functions of the Hospital ensuring that they efficiently and effectively support the service and strategic objectives of the clinical teams and the Hospital with a focus on the patient care experience. Through this role the Manager provides strong leadership in upholding Mater’s Mission, Vision and Values, aligning the operational plans of these services to the Mater Health Strategic Objectives. 

This role will manage all elements of these Services, benchmarking to maintain efficient processes, systems, staffing and knowledge that supports excellence in patient care and experience. The Manager is responsible for optimal performance in service delivery by embedding a culture of continuous improvement within the team.  This includes identifying and implementing opportunities to improve efficiency through the use of technology, critical analysis and redesign of administration processes, to support overall improvement in organisational performance.

Strong internal relationships are essential to the success of this role and will ensure all elements of these services are responsive to the needs of our patients and clinical service areas.  The Manager will collaborate closely with other Mater Managers to embed an integrated approach to services and strengthen Mater as a whole.

About you

You will have a minimum of two years’ experience leading a large team within a health setting. You will also meet the below criteria:

  • Vocational or tertiary qualifications in business or management; highly desired 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and provide appropriate team and departmental leadership; 
  • Previous experience in a comparable role;
  • Previous experience in a health care environment (desired);
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
  • High level office and information systems management skills
  • Financial acumen and detailed knowledge of health-related funding arrangements and terminology
  • Advanced knowledge of improvement frameworks and proven track record in continuously improving services
