About the role
Mater’s Built Environment has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Project Coordinator - Minor Projects to join the team in a full time, max term, 18-month capacity based at South Brisbane.
The Project Coordinator manages and coordinates capital works projects for the Mater Group, under $500,000. Working within a team of shared resources within the Capital Works Department, the Project Coordinator will ensure projects are fully developed to encompass the requirement of all elements of Mater’s strategy, along with project principles of time, cost, quality, risk form and function. Capital Works manage a variety of asset and infrastructure projects across Southeast Queensland Hospital campuses, including South Brisbane, Redland and Springfield. You will be responsible for the effective delivery of management services to achieve the completion of projects within quality, time and budget parameters.
Salary range: $121,359- $129,997 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
This represents a career defining opportunity to join a leader in healthcare and a proudly values led organisation. In this role you will lead concept planning, project design and implementation of minor projects ensuring departmental priorities are achieved within resource and time limitations.
- Coordinate the appointment of consultants and contractors, overseeing the site supervision of contractors for smooth project execution
- Obtain relevant statutory approvals for projects, ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations
- Develop design and tender documentation, working closely with design consultants to meet project guidelines and specifications
- Provide technical advice to clients, consultants, and contractors, offering expertise on design and construction issues
- Act as the Mater representative during the construction phase, representing the organisation's interests
- Manage project budget and report on progress, processing progress claims and variations
- Lead and manage project teams, consultants, and contractors, ensuring effective coordination and engagement for successful project delivery
About you
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated success in a similar role in a large and complex organisation coupled with the following:

- Minimum 3 years practical experience in Project Management of minor capital works projects (< $500,000), preferably within a healthcare setting
- Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; including negotiation and consultation skills and the ability to influence and manage relationships with a range of people, service providers, clients and stakeholders
- Demonstrated successful management of budgets, and proven high level contract management skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Building Code of Australia and WHS regulations as they apply to construction sites
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of proprietary computer-based project management software
- Current qualifications, or working towards qualifications in a built environment discipline (architecture, interior design, health planning or project management, minimum diploma) would be highly regarded
