About the role
Mater is looking for a Physiotherapist to join the team, on a maximum term basis until June 30th 2025. This will be offered at 38 hours per week and located at our South Brisbane campus.

The Physiotherapy department at Mater Health provides a broad range of public and private acute health services with adults, women’s health, neonatology, children and adolescent services. The Acute and Paediatric Physiotherapy team provides specialist services to inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic medical, surgical and oncological health conditions, across a 7-day service including on-call.

Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing:
As a member of the Acute and Paediatric Physiotherapy team, you will provide patient centred, evidence based clinical care in various Adult Inpatient caseloads such as Medical, Respiratory, Surgical, Oncology and potentially Intensive Care or Paediatrics depending on experience level.

  • Independently undertake routine clinical practice within established clinical protocols to achieve patient focused outcomes
  • Apply increasing clinical judgement to more complex cases under clinical practice supervision
  • Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers in the delivery of clinical services
  • Identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve clinical services and patient outcomes
  • Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with patients, their families/carers and external agencies to facilitate patient centred care

About you:
Essential Qualifications

  • Qualification in Physiotherapy as recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Council
  • Registration with AHPRA
  • Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 1 years’ experience working in an acute hospital setting is strongly desirable
  • A well-developed level of physiotherapy clinical knowledge in acute care physiotherapy.
  • A demonstrated ability to provide exceptional Physiotherapy clinical services commensurate with level, and to manage a varying caseload from day to day, including provision of an appropriate clinical handover as required.
  • Demonstrated attributes of solutions focus, flexibility and resilience
  • Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient centred care
  • Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with profession and multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability or ability to rapidly acquire skills to identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes.
