Mater Health is looking for a Team Leader - Outpatient & Community (either Allied Health or Nursing professional) to join Catherine’s House. This permanent, full-time role is based at our South Brisbane campus.

Catherine’s House is Australia’s first integrated mother and baby unit. The Service provides perinatal mental health and infant mental health in an integrated model of care providing specialist care with families. The Service also compromises of an integrated intake service, specialist mental health outpatient programs and services, parenting support services and day programs.

Allied Health: Salary range: $73.12 - $76.30 (HP5) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!  

Nursing: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

This role leads all community-based and outpatient services and works closely within the ten bed inpatient unit, which is a specialist statewide service that provides acute perinatal mental health assessment and care for mothers who experience serious mental health challenges. Mothers are co-admitted with their baby, and it is an authorised Mental Health Service under the Mental Health Act 2016. The role also facilitates leadership for the admitted private day services and manages the Allied Health Staff for the inpatient unit. The role works closely with the wider leadership team and multidisciplinary services across all services in Catherine’s House and wider Mater Health Services. The role oversees both public and private services attached to the inpatient unit.

  • The Team Leader roles plays a key role in the delivery of exceptional services to Mater families and our staff. The core function of the role is to:
  • Provide expert mental health clinical care and takes a lead in promoting contemporary mental health practice with a focus on mental health in the perinatal period.
  • Operational management of  multidisciplinary teams with facilitating both operational and facilitating direction of the service
  • Operational Management of clinical, financial, and human resources within a quality and risk management framework.
  • The Team leader role works closely with nursing, administration and psychiatry leadership across all services to ensure a highly functioning, integrated and cohesive multidisciplinary team.
  • The Team Leader role will be actively engaged in research, education and continuous quality improvement and facilitate integration of care with both internal services at Mater and external Statewide Services.
  • Undertake operational leadership that promotes the infant and mother dyad
  • Institute a high level of leadership in educating and designing interventions that support the family and are infant centred and promote the mother baby dyad and integrated mental health
  • Lead the development, design and implementation of policies and work instructions that attend to the needs of the family and improve multidisciplinary services in an integrated family centred care across all services.
  • Lead education alongside the education workforce at a multidisciplinary level to deliver effective, safe and recovery focussed services that redress the needs of the family in collaboration with medical, nursing and allied health services underpinned by the Mater Values and Behavioural Standards. 

About you

You will have qualifications in Allied Health or Nursing (including relevant AHPRA registration where required). You will also meet the below criteria:

  • Expertise in Infant and / or perinatal mental health
  • Qualification in health service management
  • Experience in ambulatory settings
  • Experience as a team leader
  • Research experience / publications
  • Data management
  • Experience providing clinical supervision
  • Significant experience in management of mental health services with a proven record of achieving results in a complex and diverse setting.
  • Postgraduate qualification in management or clinical leadership is highly regarded. • Expertise in infant and / or perinatal mental health is highly regarded.
  • Research and/or quality improvement experience

If the successful applicant is a psychologist:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Clinical, Clinical Neuro, Educational & Developmental or Health Psychology
  • PsyBA approved supervisor
  • PsyBA area of practice endorsement in Clinical, Clinical Neuro, Educational & Developmental or Health Psychology
