  • Strengthen teaching, research, and simulation through partnerships with The University of Queensland—especially in perinatal care, enhanced recovery, and digital decision support

You will also serve as the reference point for anaesthetic policy, risk, practice standards, and outcomes across all Mater hospitals

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert leadership across clinical governance, service delivery, quality, and safety
  • Contribute to operational and strategic planning, service growth, and performance KPIs
  • Drive education, training, and accreditation for junior and senior medical staff
  • Enable participation in CPD, simulation, research, and quality improvement
  • Apply best-practice HR, safety, and inclusive workforce principles
  • Represent Anaesthesia at executive, multidisciplinary, and craft group meetings
  • Foster strong relationships with GPs, public/private specialists, and external partners

About You

You will bring:

  • Specialist registration with AHPRA in Anaesthesia
  • A minimum of 10–15 years of specialist experience in high-acuity hospital environments (desirable)
  • Proven leadership and departmental management experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, research, and quality improvement
  • A collaborative, future-focused leadership style with a strong patient-centred ethos

What’s on Offer

  • Remuneration as per the Mater Medical Officer Agreement (aligned to QLD Health EA)
  • Generous private practice opportunities and on-call incentives
