Mater Mothers’ Hospital’s Neonatal Critical Care Unit is looking for a Clinical Facilitator, based at the South Brisbane Campus. The Clinical Facilitator role provides expert clinical and learning and development activities through the application of best practice, education and portfolio management.

This is a maximum-term, part time opportunity, working 30 hours per week.

Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In consultation with the Education Co-ordinator and the Nurse Unit Managers, the Clinical Facilitator role will plan, deliver and evaluate clinical education to meet current and emergent Mater staff learning needs and support staff to work at top of scope. Through effective collaboration and communication with members of the Education and Clinical teams, the Clinical Facilitator will operationalise Mater’s Strategic and Operational plans. The Clinical Facilitator reports to the Education Co-ordinator.

  • In response to identified learning needs, plan, develop, implement and evaluate clinical learning and development opportunities to meet knowledge, skill and/or behavioural deficits; support staff to work to top of scope; and increase workforce capacity and capability.
  • In collaboration with the Education Co-ordinator, develop evidence-based, flexible and fit for purpose learning and assessment resources which meet current and emergent clinical learning needs.
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills which support productive working relationships and contribute to a positive workplace and/or organisational culture of empowerment and trust.
  • Develop individual and/or workplace learning plans and assess clinician clinical performance against agreed standards of practice for staff experiencing performance issues.
  • Support professional development and/or performance improvement processes by observation and assessment of staff performance against regulatory, professional and organisational competency standards to provide constructive feedback and remedy performance concerns.
  •  Incorporate Simulation and other education methodologies into learning activities and resources (where possible) to enhance the application of knowledge and skills, critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and problem solving to practice.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for innovation and improvement in contemporary education and clinical / patient care practice.

About you
To be successful in the role you will have the following:

  • Current and unrestricted registration and endorsement (where applicable) with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife and/or Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Post graduate qualifications in the relevant specialty (Midwifery and/or Education) or working towards same.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willing to work towards same.
  • Minimum of three (3) years post graduate cumulative clinical experience (clinical specialty desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical facilitation and or clinical supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical education
  • Experience with high frequency ventilation (HFOV) desirable.
