Why You’ll Love This Role
You’ll be the heartbeat of the DEFENCE study, reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Clinical Services. In this pivotal role, you will:

- Drive cutting-edge research in neonatal skin integrity and respiratory device application, directly influencing best practices both nationally and internationally.
- Champion evidence-based neonatal care through leadership, education, and mentoring.
This role places you at the intersection of research, clinical excellence, and compassionate neonatal care, giving you the chance to truly impact the lives of babies and their families.
What you’ll be doing
- Co-developing site-specific strategies to implement the SAFET bundle seamlessly within NCCU.
- Engaging nursing, medical, and allied health staff through surveys and workshops to overcome barriers and boost adoption.
- Tailoring interventions alongside experts to ensure the SAFET bundle fits perfectly with clinical needs.
- Collecting and analysing vital data to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of the intervention.
- Collaborating on publications, reports, and presentations to share breakthrough findings with the wider healthcare community.
- Upholding high standards by applying study protocols and ensuring research compliance.
About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- Current registration with AHPRA.
- At least 2 years’ experience in Neonatal or Maternity nursing.
- Understanding of research principles, data collection, and analysis.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with confident use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently while fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience liaising with diverse teams.
