About the role
Mater Occupational Therapy department are looking for an Advanced Occupational Therapist (Lymphoedema) to join the team on a 12 month full-time, maternity leave contract located at our South Brisbane campus.
The Occupational Therapy department at Mater Health provides a broad range of public and private acute health services with adults, women’s health, neonatology, children and adolescent services.
The Lymphoedema team provides highly specialised outpatient clinical services for patients with lymphoedema and vascular conditions and provides a consultative role for inpatients.
The lymphoedema service is a multi-disciplinary service incorporating occupational therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy assistants. As an advanced clinician in the Lymphoedema service you will lead or independently provide clinical services of a complex or specialist nature within the lymphoedema caseload. Additionally, you will lead programs and teams to support patient centred, evidence-based care, contribute to the growth of services and lead change through research, quality improvement initiatives and innovative models of care.
Salary range: (HP5) $73.12 - $76.30 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and provide independent specialist clinical services in the lymphoedema caseload
- Utilise specialist knowledge, advanced clinical judgement and extended scope techniques to manage complex clinical presentations
- Provide authoritative counsel as a recognised specialist in lymphoedema
- Direct, delegate to, and provide clinical supervision to health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers in the delivery of lymphoedema clinical services
- Shape service development and delivery by developing and reviewing clinical policy, practices and procedures
- Take a leadership role in departmental planning and assist in building growth and sustainability of lymphoedema services
- Leading allied health lymphoedema alternative model of care to reduce surgical wait times
- Lead change through initiating and implementing quality and service improvement initiatives
- Research, implement and promote innovative models of care within the lymphoedema service
- Provide authoritative counsel to management, colleagues and external stakeholders regarding delivery of lymphoedema clinical services
- Provide specialist lymphoedema advice within professional and multidisciplinary teams and when liaising with patients, families/carers and external stakeholders
- Actively promote and advocate for profession in multidisciplinary forums
- Contribute to the operational management of the team’s workload, work-flows and caseload prioritisation
About you
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Accredited Lymphoedema training
- Eligibility with AHPRA
- Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number
- Eligibility for accreditation with the ALA practice register
- Demonstrated advanced level of knowledge, clinical practice and use of clinical judgement in delivery of complex lymphoedema and vascular clinical services
- Demonstrated advanced level of knowledge in treatment of lymphoedema and vascular conditions including therapy devices such as intermittent pneumatic compression, negative pressure devices and complex garment prescription
