About the role  

The Mater Mothers’ Hospital is hiring an Associate Equipment Nurse within our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  
  
This is a permanent, part-time position, working 20 hours per week, based at our South Brisbane Campus.   

The purpose of this role is to support the duties of the Equipment nurse role within NCCU. This includes management of equipment including purchasing, trials and benchmarking of equipment to support best practice. This role also assists informing inventory management, clinical support for staff regarding equipment and processes and training and education.

Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hour plus 12% Superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!  

What You'll Be Doing:  

Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Clinical Services, this position will see you:

  • Working alongside the Equipment nurse in NCCU and closely with Biomedical engineers, supply chain and procurement to ensure equipment and resources are available and ready for use.
  • Assisting Nursing Staff in delivering expert and timely care to critically unwell neonates.
  • Ensuring all necessary equipment and consumables are always available and in line with best practice.
  • Collaborating with Nurse Unit Managers, Medical teams, Clinical Engineers, and the Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Trailing new equipment, ensuring safety for neonatal population, cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintaining existing equipment according to manufacturing service requirements.

About You:  

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current registration with APHRA
  • Minimum of 3 years+ experience in Neonatal Critical care
  • Neonatal qualification (graduate certificate or working towards)
  • High-level interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of clinical guidelines and protocols related to neonatal care
