About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is looking for multiple Orderlies to join the dedicated team at our South Brisbane Campus on a casual basis.
These casual positions are valued and integral members of the Ward Services Department. You will be responsible for a wide range of portage and patient care services to clinical and non-clinical areas across 3 hospitals within South Brisbane based on Mater’s customer focused philosophy.
Salary range: $31.24 - $33.68 per hour plus 12% superannuation and casual loading and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Provide assistance with the transport and safe transfer of patients between departments, and to/from other local hospitals in beds or wheelchairs and by hospital ambulance in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
Help nursing staff to provide a high quality of care whilst assisting with turning, lifting, mobilising, and hygiene needs of patients
Ensure patient care is managed without harm to either patient or the handlers by utilising correct patient handling techniques and appropriate aids
Handling soiled linen, general or biomedical waste using correct PPE
Couriering equipment between units, departments, and hospitals
Safe handling and restocking of medical gas cylinders
About you
Genuine interest in working with and caring for people and a drive to deliver excellent customer service (mandatory)
Current drivers’ licence (mandatory)
Able to work rotational shifts e.g. (day, evening and night), 7 - day roster including weekends and public holidays may apply (mandatory)
A strong commitment to working effectively as part of a team and autonomously with the capability to problem solve and troubleshoot
Flexible, reliable and the ability to prioritise while working under pressure
Fitness level to suit physically demanding role in fast paced environment
Strong communication skills, with the ability to retain information
Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions and procedures
Certificate III in Health Support Services (desirable)
