Inpatient Rehabilitation Coordinator

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced healthcare professional to join our team as the Acting Inpatient Rehabilitation Coordinator. This position offers a 12-month maximum term contract commencing in September 2025 to cover maternity leave. The successful applicant will work 30.4 hours a fortnight providing clinical care within our inpatient rehabilitation service. Salary range: $73.12 - $76.30 (HP5) per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Reporting to the Allied Health Manager, the Inpatient Rehabilitation Coordinator’s role is to coordinate, direct and contribute to the development of all aspects of the inpatient Rehabilitation Service including individual programs to ensure optimal outcomes are achieved for each patient as well as the Service as a whole. 
  • The Rehabilitation Coordinator ensures a smooth transition across the continuum of care for each patient, from admission into the service, to their discharge destination.
  • The Inpatient Rehabilitation Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that the Rehabilitation Allied Health team functions as a productive and integral part of the multidisciplinary Rehabilitation team.
  • As a senior member of the Allied Health and Rehabilitative teams other responsibilities will include financial stewardship, Kronos, maintaining appropriate budget, staffing and supervision and service governance.

 About you

  • Eligibility for full registration with a relevant Professional body such as Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Speech Pathology Australia (SPA), Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), and/or Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of rehabilitation program practices and principles, requirements and standards.
  • Leadership/supervisory experience in health care.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Allied Health / Rehabilitation speciality, Leadership, Management or similar (desirable)
  • Functional Independence Measure (FIM) qualified (desirable)
  • Membership and active participation in a relevant or professional organisation/association (desirable)
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in delivering and developing rehabilitation services to a diverse patient population (desirable)
