About the role

Mater Health is looking for a Senior Clinical Educator and Obstetric Physiotherapist to join our team. This permanent, full-time role is based at our South Brisbane campus in the Mater Mothers’ Hospitals.

Salary range: $64.64 - $69.55 (HP4) per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As the Senior Physiotherapist in Obstetric Clinical Education within the Mater Mothers’ Physiotherapy team, you will take the lead in delivering and coordinating high-quality clinical education for physiotherapy students—primarily in postnatal inpatient obstetric care.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate clinical education placements for undergraduate and early-career physiotherapists.
  • Deliver hands-on teaching and supervision in a postnatal obstetric inpatient environment, ensuring alignment with best practice standards and university partnership requirements.
  • Support students in developing core clinical competencies using structured feedback, formal assessments, and reflective practice tools such as the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages professional growth, clinical confidence, and evidence-informed care.
  • Collaborate with university partners, senior clinicians, and the broader multidisciplinary team to maintain a high standard of clinical education and patient care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives that enhance clinical education delivery and patient outcomes within the MWPH physiotherapy service.

You will also maintain a clinical presence by contributing to the broader MWPH caseload, including inpatient and outpatient obstetric services, antenatal education classes, and participation in weekend rosters.

About you

  • Physiotherapy degree from a recognised tertiary institution 
  • AHPRA registration
  • Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number
  • Demonstrated high level clinical practice and independent clinical judgement in delivery of inpatient and outpatient obstetric clinical services including group education
  • Demonstrated strong foundation of knowledge and skills in Pelvic Health assessment and management and a commitment to further progressing skills in this area
  • Demonstrated experience in the education and clinical practice supervision of Physiotherapy students, including competence with the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP) marking criteria 
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and ability to engage diverse students
  • Support the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of a range of mandatory and elevated learning and education activities and solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, contribute to decision making and address conflict within profession and multidisciplinary teams, patients, carers and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and evaluate quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical education, clinical services and patient outcomes
  • Have personal attributes that align with our Physiotherapy Department Values: solutions focused, displaying resilience but flexibility, and having a positive attitude
