Mater Research has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Research Ethics & Governance Officer to join our growing Research Compliance Team! This permanent, full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

Salary range: $51.87 - $58.24 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Research Ethics and Governance Officer (REGO), you will play a crucial role in facilitating the efficient review of human research projects across all Mater locations. Your responsibilities will include providing advice, support and guidance to Mater researchers to ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, contractual and policy frameworks governing human research activities.
You will be involved in the development and review of research policies, such as the Research Governance Framework, to support research activities at Mater. Collaborating with senior staff members including the Manager Research Ethics and Governance, Senior Manager of Research Compliance, HREC Chair, HREC Coordinator and Research Agreements Office, you will contribute to creating a compliance environment that fosters successful research endeavours.
About you
The successful candidate will have a relevant degree or tertiary qualification in biological, health sciences or related disciplines.
- Experience or training in clinical research or research ethics and governance processes
- Demonstrated research-related experience
- Ability to interact positively, constructively and collaboratively with team members and colleagues
- Ability to build and maintain effective and high-value relationships
- Demonstrated integrity with respect to confidentiality
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
- Sound understanding of legislation, codes and guidelines relevant to human research ethics
- Experience in research ethics or governance, clinical governance, or use of complex software systems
