About the role

The Mater Health Physiotherapy Department is looking for a Physiotherapist Trainee to join their team, supporting a wide range of public adult, acute inpatient and ambulatory health services. As a member of the Physiotherapy team, you will undertake a defined range of clinical and support tasks under the direction of the clinical team, to contribute to patient care.

The successful applicant will be offered a casual position based at our South Brisbane campus.

Salary range: $30.95 - $36.41 per hour plus 12% superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Perform basic clinical and clinical support duties under the clinical practice supervision of an experience Physiotherapist in the areas or Acute services, orthopaedics and musculoskeletal outpatients.
  • Provide feedback to supervising Physiotherapists on patient outcomes and any changes to patient status
  • Recognise when input is required from the supervising Physiotherapist  and obtain their involvement
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical record entries that align to documentation guidelines and are co-signed by the supervising Physiotherapist
  • Set up and maintain gymnasiums, therapy rooms, equipment and resources, ensuring they are safe and available for individual and group programs
  • Develop and maintain clinical resources and patient education materials
  • Identify and contribute to the development and implementation of quality/service improvement activities to improve clinical services and patient outcomes
  • Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams to provide patient centred care
  • Actively participate in training and development activities to further develop clinical knowledge and skills

About you

Qualifications

  • Current enrolment in the final year of a Physiotherapy tertiary-level program from a recognised tertiary institution which will result in a Physiotherapy qualification is essential
  • Recent Mater Health student placement experience would be highly regarded

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Ability to work under direction and within a defined scope of practice, in a complex and demanding work environment
  • Effective communicator who works collaboratively with professional and multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Proven organisation, prioritising and resourceful problem solving skills
  • Sound computer and digital literacy skills
  • Experience working in either a hospital, sub acute, disability or community health setting would be highly regarded
