About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is pleased to invite applications for the role of Quality & Safety Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced healthcare leader to contribute to the ongoing excellence of our renowned hospital. We are offering a Permanent Full-Time role, working 38 hours per week, with a commencement date scheduled for January 2026.

The role involves providing support in delivering safe and high-quality care, with a focus on creating a culture that values safety, identifies vulnerabilities, and integrates risk, quality, and safety functions. Reporting to General Manager, the Quality and Safety Manager will be responsible for managing activities related to quality and clinical safety management, accreditation, and continuous improvement across Mater Private Hospital Townsville.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, develop, implement, and maintain an organizational-wide quality system.
  • Systematically monitor performance across all safety and quality systems.
  • Report to the health service organization and governing body.
  • Maintain personal professional skills, competence, and performance.
  • Set up operational policy and procedure framework.
  • Implement effective systems for management of credentialing, clinical education and training, performance monitoring, and clinical safety and quality education.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to indications of clinical underperformance.
  • Coordinate and oversee planning and development of the Mater Health environment to support safety and quality.
  • Engage with clinicians on the environment of Mater Health.
  • Allocate appropriate resources to ensure the environment supports safety and quality.
  • Respond to identified concerns about the environment.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant qualification and/or substantial work experience (greater than 5 years) in managing organizational clinical governance/quality systems.
  • Experience working in clinical quality and safety roles in the healthcare sector.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a related field (desired).
  • Sound knowledge of maintaining accreditation status and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence others.
  • Advanced computing skills and ability to interrogate data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
