Business Support Officer - Surgical Services

About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane currently has an opportunity for an experienced Business Support Officer to join Administration Support Services team on a maximum term basis from 22nd September 2025 – 21st October 2025, full time hours, Monday to Friday.

Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the Director of Surgical Services and the Clinical leads of multiple surgical teams
  • Provide diary management support
  • Support recruitment functions within the departments
  • Assist with HR functions
  • Assist with budgetary functions including invoices and purchasing
  • Maintain correspondence with various key stakeholders
  • Maintain leave management across the surgical teams including roster allocations, leave cover, timecard updates and data entry
  • Ensure accurate data entry using appropriate electronic systems
  • Exercise judgement and initiative within define procedures, precedents, guidelines and instructions
  • Maintain a safe working environment complying with Workplace Health and Safety and anti-discrimination policies
  • Support and assist other team members within the business as required
  • Comply with and adhere to Mater Health Services and the private practice policies, procedures, standards and legislation relevant to the role and business unit
  • Assist with meetings and meeting preparation
  • Maintain and support areas specific spreadsheets / databases / calendar
  • Assist with preparation of correspondence and distribution
  • Updating databases / systems for departmental use

About you

  • High level of organisation and ability to multi-task with multiple competing interests
  • Strong customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and effective administration support in a timely and organised manner
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Accurate data entry skills with a high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and departmental data bases and other software applications
  • Qualifications, continuing education programs and experience may be used to demonstrate skill, knowledge and/or ability relevant to the position.
  • Minimum of 2-year experience working within a business support or private practice highly desirable
